The Story Behind Angels Wear Nada
Growing up, Noon was always the chunkier kid, and even now, finding clothes that fit—especially jeans—can feel impossible. That’s why she founded Angels Wear Nada: for the little (but not so little) girl inside her who wanted to stand out and stay fly, but couldn’t find anything that matched her style. AWN is made by a plus-size woman, for plus-size people, with all their interests at heart.
Six years ago, after moving to the UK and discovering second-hand fashion, she became obsessed—not just with the rare finds that set you apart from the high-street crowd, but also with the sustainable, conscious way thrifting allows us to shop. Sick and tired of these lame-ass corporate fashion giants pretending to be sustainable through green-washing campaigns, Noon wanted to create something real and genuinely eco-friendly. That’s why all AWN garments are made from second-hand materials.
Nada, the founder's official name (though she’s always gone by her nickname, Noon), is an ode to her unfiltered origins. Angels Wear Nada is a playful spin on The Devil Wears Prada, serving as a lighthearted nod to the overly serious nature of the fashion industry. Our Angels who Wear Nada set an example, showing that together, we can make a difference—and have fun while doing it. The AWN font was crafted by manipulating a chain to form the letters, symbolising connectedness.
Angels Wear Nada is for the plus-size baddies and allies who care about looking and feeling good while doing good for our planet. Our designs are nostalgic, visually inspired by the past, yet driven by a hope for a better future. We strive to break boundaries in the industry, making fashion sexier, more playful, adaptable, sustainable, and inclusive.
